Back-to-School Lunch Cart Ideas | Moxie Space

There are a lot of ways to make your back-to-school mornings a little less stressful (we’ve got some ideas right here in our back-to-school guide!).

One strategy is to designate a cabinet or a drawer as a “lunch prep zone” to help make lunch prep more efficient. But if you’re looking to really level up your game, how about a lunch cart?!

Side-by-side images of lunch cart examples.

Why You Need a Lunch Cart

Not only is it super cute, but a lunch cart can be a useful tool in your kitchen because it:

  • Fosters independence in older kiddos who can pack their own lunches
  • Keeps lunch supplies visible and easy to grab (no more losing thermoses in the murky depths of a cabinet!)
  • Frees up space in your kitchen drawers and cabinets
  • Can be rolled out when you need it and stored away when you don’t

How to Create Your Own Lunch Cart

Creating a lunch cart couldn’t be easier! All you need is a 3-tier rolling cart and possibly some organizer trays to hold snacks.

Then just designate a purpose for each tier. In our example, one tier holds lunchbags and thermoses, another holds tupperware and food storage bags, and the top tier is set up with individually-packaged snacks for kids to grab and go.

Bonus: your kids can personalize the cart with their names, stickers, or other decorations!
